Move all items away from the wall you're preparing to paint. Ideally, all furniture and decor items should be removed from the room or placed about 4 feet from the project area. Wrap all remaining furniture and items with plastic painter's tarps.
Paint the wall's base coat in a warm, golden tone. Only satin or higher sheens of paint should be applied. Use a rough nap roller for textured walls or a low-nap roller for smooth walls. Paint large sections by rolling vertically, yet without adding heavy amounts of pressure to the wall. Outline the wall's perimeter with an angled paintbrush. Add a second coat if needed. Let the paint dry.
Mix together clear glaze and dark brown latex paint. Blend the paint evenly so the glaze mixture is all one color. Apply the glaze with a small paint roller in small sections. Manipulate the glaze by dabbing and stipping the paint using different paint tools. Each tool gives a different look. The tools can include crumpled newspaper, trash bags, large brushes or sea sponges. Continue the process until the entire wall is glazed.
Add an Indian inspired stencil design over your glazed wall finish if desired. Use stencils inspired by Indian architecture or common animals found in India such as the peacock or elephant. Brush on vibrant colors when stenciling for a pop of color, which is common in Indian inspired home decor. Common colors include bright pinks, oranges and teals.
