Ingredients
-1/2 cup baking soda
-1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide
-1/4 cup lemon juice
-1 gallon of hot water
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Mixture: In a large bucket or sink, dissolve 1/2 cup of baking soda in 1 gallon of hot water. Add 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide and 1/4 cup of lemon juice to the mixture. Stir well to combine.
2. Soak the Fabric: Place your fabrics into the prepared solution. Ensure the fabric is fully submerged.
3. Let It Soak: Allow the fabric to soak in the solution for at least 1-2 hours. Depending on the stubbornness of the stains, you can leave the fabric to soak overnight for better results.
4. Rinse Thoroughly: After soaking, rinse the fabrics thoroughly with cool water until all the solution is removed.
5. Dry the Fabric: Hang dry the fabrics or tumble dry them on low heat.
6. Enjoy Whiter Fabric: Your fabrics should now be whitened and refreshed!
Notes:
- If the stains are particularly stubborn, you can try adding an additional 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide and 1/8 cup of baking soda to the mixture.
- Hydrogen peroxide may cause color-fading; make sure to spot test a small, inconspicuous area of your fabrics before applying the whitener to the entire item.
- Always read and follow the care instructions provided on your fabric labels.
Using this homemade fabric whitener will not only brighten your clothes but also avoid harsh chemicals found in store-bought products, making it a sustainable and cost-effective choice.
