Step 1: Slide a bead onto the cord
* Use a crimp bead if you want a secure knot.
* For a decorative touch, use a decorative bead.
Step 2: Fold the cord in half
* Bring the ends of the cord together so that the bead is in the center of the cord.
Step 3: Form a loop
* Use your fingers or a pair of pliers to form a loop with the folded cord.
* Make the loop large enough to fit over your head.
Step 4: Pull the cords through the loop
* Holding onto the bead with one hand, grab the cords of cord sticking up from the loop and start to loop those cords through the necklace loop to tighten it around the bead.
* Continue looping the tails over the bead and through the loop until you reach your desired tightness.
Step 5: Trim any excess cord
* Use sharp jewelry cutters or scissors to trim the ends of the cord leaving about ¼” tail past the knot.
Step 6: Enjoy your new necklace!
Step 1: Cut the cord to the desired length
* Cut the cord to a length that is long enough to fit over your head and drape down to the desired length.
* Leave some extra length (½” – 1”) for trimming and knotting.
Step 2: Thread the cord through the clasp
* Slide one end of the cord through the hole on one end of the clasp.
Step 3: Pass the cord back through the clasp
* Pass the cord back through the clasp from the other side, creating a loop.
* Then, fold the loop back upon itself to create a double knot.
Step 4: Thread the other half of the cord through both sides of the clasp
* After pulling the long section of cord through, take the long tail and thread it through both sides of the clasp.
* Pull it through to a length that matches the first threaded side of the cord.
* Fold the cord and knot it around itself.
Step 5: Slide both the cord tails through the first fold
* Slip both cord ends under the first folded piece of cord.
Step 6: Pull both ends of the cord to adjust
* Grab both ends of the cord on either side of the bead and gently separate them.
* This should tighten the knot at the end of the cord.
Step 7: Cut any excess cord
* Use sharp jewelry cutters or scissors to trim the ends of the cord.
* Leave enough cord to knot, if needed.
Step 8: Admire your sliding knot necklace!
