How to Make Plaster of Paris Hand Molds

Materials:

- Plaster of Paris

- Mixing bowl and spoon

- Water

- Plastic wrap

- Scissors

- Newspaper

- Two elastic bands

- A friend to help you

Instructions:

1. Prepare your workspace by covering it with newspaper.

2. Put on the plastic wrap. This will help to protect your skin from the plaster of Paris.

3. Mix the plaster of Paris according to the package instructions.

4. Have your friend hold their hand outstretched, palm up.

5. Pour the plaster of Paris mixture onto the person's hand, starting at the wrist and working your way up to the fingers.

6. Use your fingers to smooth out the plaster of Paris and make sure that it is evenly distributed.

7. Let the plaster of Paris dry for about 10 minutes, or until it is hard.

8. Carefully peel the plaster of Paris mold off of the person's hand.

9. Trim the edges of the mold with the scissors.

10. Repeat steps 4-9 for the other hand.

11. Use the elastic bands to hold the two molds together.

Your plaster of Paris hand molds are now complete! You can use them to make casts of your hands or to create other art projects.
