How to Make a Jewelry Roll Organizer

Making a jewelry roll organizer is a fun and practical DIY project that allows you to showcase and store your jewelry in a compact and organized manner. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you create your own jewelry roll organizer:

Materials Needed:

1. Fabric of your choice (quilting cotton or canvas works well)

2. Coordinating Fabric for the lining

3. Fusible fleece (or batting)

4. Sewing machine, thread, scissors

5. Measuring tape, ruler, and pins

6. Ribbon or Cord for the closure

7. Grommets (optional)

8. Sewing tools (iron, pressing board, etc.)

Step 1: Cut the Fabric

a. Outer Fabric: Cut two rectangles of the outer fabric, each measuring 15 inches by 24 inches.

b. Lining Fabric: Cut two rectangles of the lining fabric of the same size (15 inches x 24 inches).

c. Fusible Fleece: Cut two rectangles of fusible fleece, slightly smaller than the outer fabric pieces (14.5 inches x 23.5 inches).

Step 2: Iron the Fusible Fleece

Place one of the fusible fleece rectangles on the wrong side of each outer fabric piece. Iron the fleece onto the fabric, ensuring it adheres well. Repeat this step for both pieces.

Step 3: Sew the Outer Fabric Pieces

a. With the right sides together, stitch the two outer fabric pieces along one of the shorter sides using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Leave the other three sides open.

b. Turn the outer fabric right side out carefully using a point turner or another pointy object. Press flat.

Step 4: Sew the Lining Fabric Pieces

a. With right sides together, sew the two lining fabric pieces on one of the shorter sides, leaving the other three sides open.

b. Turn the lining right side out and press flat.

Step 5: Insert the Lining into the Outer Fabric

a. Place the lining inside the outer fabric, lining up all the edges. The right sides of the fabric should be facing each other.

b. Pin the lining to the outer fabric along the open edges, making sure the corners match up nicely.

Step 6: Stitch the Side Seams

Stitch along the three remaining open sides, using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Leave a 2-3 inches opening on one of the shorter sides for turning the organizer right side out.

Step 7: Trim the Corners and Turn Right Side Out

a. Carefully trim the corners of the organizer to reduce bulk.

b. Turn the organizer right side out through the opening you left. Use a point turner or blunt object to gently push the corners out.

Step 8: Close the Opening

a. Fold the edges of the opening inward, enclosing the raw edges.

b. Stitch close to the edge to secure the opening.

Step 9: Add Compartments (optional)

You can add compartments to your jewelry roll by sewing dividing lines on the inside. Use a fabric pen to mark the desired compartments and then stitch along the lines.

Step 10: Add Ribbon or Cord Closure (optional)

- Measure and cut a piece of ribbon or cord long enough to wrap around the organizer and tie in a bow.

- Attach the ribbon or cord to the organizer by stitching it onto the short sides, near the top.

- You can also add grommets to the organizer for a more secure closure option.

Step 11: Final Touches

- Iron the finished jewelry roll organizer to give it a neat and polished look.

Your DIY jewelry roll organizer is now complete! This compact and stylish organizer will keep your jewelry neatly stored, preventing tangles and allowing for easy access.
