How to Sew a Single Sided Baby Receiving Blanket

### Materials

- 1 yard of fabric

- Scissors

- Sewing machine

- Thread

- Tape measure

- Rotary cutter (optional)

- Cutting mat (optional)

- Pins (optional)

Instructions

1. Cut your fabric.

>You will need to cut two pieces of fabric that are each 36 inches by 42 inches. If you are using a rotary cutter and cutting mat, you can easily cut the fabric to these dimensions. If not, you can use scissors to cut the fabric. Just be sure to measure carefully and cut straight lines.

2. Sew the two pieces of fabric together.

>With the right sides of the fabric facing together, sew the two pieces of fabric together along the 42-inch sides, using a 1/2-inch seam allowance.

3. Trim the corners.

>Trim the corners of the fabric, leaving 1/4-inch seam allowances.

4. Turn the fabric right side out.

>Gently pull the fabric through the opening in one of the corners. Use a point turner or other blunt object to help push out the corners.

5. Press the fabric.

>Press the fabric flat, making sure to iron out any wrinkles.

6. Topstitch the blanket.

>Topstitch the blanket around the edges, using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. This will help to secure the seams and give the blanket a more polished look.

Your single sided baby receiving blanket is now finished! It is soft, cuddly, and perfect for keeping your little one cozy.

Tips

- Choose a fabric that is soft and gentle against baby's skin.

- Pre-wash the fabric before sewing to remove any chemicals or finishes that could irritate baby's skin.

- Use a serger to finish the seams if you have one. This will help to prevent the seams from fraying.

- Add a personalized touch by embroidering baby's name or initials on the blanket.

- Receiving blankets make great gifts for new parents.
