How to Make a Barney Rubble Costume

Barney Rubble is Fred Flintstone's best friend and neighbor. He is a friendly, affable man who is always up for a good time. His signature outfit consists of a blue tunic with a white collar, brown pants, and a black belt. To complete the look, he wears a blue cap with a white pom-pom on top.

Materials

- Blue felt

- White felt

- Brown felt

- Black felt

- Yellow felt

- Polyester stuffing

- Sewing machine

- Thread

- Scissors

- Fabric marker

- Measuring tape

- Buttons

Instructions

1. Tunic

- Cut out two pieces of blue felt in the shape of a tunic. The pieces should be about 24 inches wide by 36 inches long.

- Sew the two pieces of felt together along the sides and bottom, leaving the top open.

- Turn the tunic right side out and stuff it with polyester stuffing.

- Sew the top of the tunic closed.

- Add a white felt collar to the neckline of the tunic.

2. Pants

- Cut out two pieces of brown felt in the shape of pants legs. The pieces should be about 12 inches wide by 30 inches long.

- Sew the two pieces of felt together along the sides, leaving the top and bottom open.

- Turn the pants legs right side out and stuff them with polyester stuffing.

- Sew the top and bottom of the pants legs closed.

- Add a black felt belt to the waist of the pants.

3. Cap

- Cut out two pieces of blue felt in the shape of a cap. The pieces should be about 12 inches wide by 18 inches long.

- Sew the two pieces of felt together along the sides, leaving the top open.

- Turn the cap right side out and stuff it with polyester stuffing.

- Sew the top of the cap closed.

- Add a white felt pom-pom to the top of the cap.

4. Accessories

- Cut out two small circles from yellow felt.

- Glue the circles to the front of the tunic.

- Add buttons to the front of the tunic.

Additional Tips

- You can add your own personal touches to the costume, such as adding a wig, a mustache, or a pair of glasses.

- If you don't have a sewing machine, you can also hand-sew the costume.

- You can also use different colors of felt for the costume.

- For a more authentic look, you can use real leather instead of felt.
