Instructions:
1. Prepare the fabric: Ensure your knit fabric is pre washed, free of any detergents or fabric softeners, and damp.
2. Prepare the dye bath: Follow the instructions provided with your specific fiber-reactive dye. Typically, you will need to mix the dye powder with hot water and dissolve it completely.
3. Add The Fabric: Put on gloves and safety glasses. Carefully place the damp knit fabric into the prepared dye bath. Use a stirring utensil to ensure that the fabric is fully immersed and saturated with the dye.
4. Agitate The Fabric: Stir the fabric periodically during the dyeing process to encourage even color distribution. The recommended agitation time may vary depending on the type of dye and fabric.
5. Set the Dye: This step is essential for achieving colorfast results. After the recommended agitation time is complete, allow the fabric to sit in the dye bath for a specific period, typically around 30 minutes.
6. Rinse The Fabric: Carefully remove the fabric from the dye bath and rinse thoroughly with cold water until the water runs clear. This step removes excess dye and prevents color bleeding.
7. Wash The Fabric: Wash the dyed fabric separately using a gentle detergent. Avoid using harsh detergents that may damage the fabric or affect the color.
8. Dry The Fabric: Tumble dry the fabric on a low heat setting or hang it to air dry. Avoid high-heat drying, which may alter the fabric's color and texture.
9. Admire Your Dye: Inspect the dried fabric to ensure the desired color is achieved. Enjoy the vibrant colors you created on your knit fabric!
