* 2 wooden dowels, each 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter and 6 feet (1.8 m) long
* 1 wooden dowel, 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) in diameter and 3 feet (0.9 m) long
* 4 wood screws, each 1 inch (2.5 cm) long
* 4 washers
* A drill
* A saw
* Sandpaper
* Stain or paint (optional)
* A coat hook for each dowel
1. Cut the dowels:
* Cut the two 6-foot (1.8 m) dowels in half, so that you have four 3-foot (0.9 m) dowels.
* Cut the remaining 3-foot (0.9 m) dowel into four equal 9-inch (23 cm) lengths.
2. Sand the dowels:
* Sand all of the dowels to smooth out any rough edges.
3. Stain or paint the dowels:
* Stain or paint the dowels if desired.
4. Assemble the teepee frame:
* Place two of the 3-foot (0.9 m) dowels in the shape of an "X", crossing them at the center.
* Secure the dowels in place with two of the wood screws, inserting the screws through the center of the dowels and into the washers.
* Repeat this step with the remaining two 3-foot (0.9 m) dowels.
* Connect the two "X" frames by inserting the 9-inch (23 cm) dowels into the holes at the top of each frame.
5. Attach the coat hooks:
* Attach a coat hook to each of the four 9-inch (23 cm) dowels.
6. Mount the teepee hat and coat rack to the wall:
* Use a drill with a masonry bit to drill four holes in the wall, spaced evenly and about 6 feet (1.8 m) apart.
* Insert the four remaining wood screws into the holes, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of the screws exposed.
* Hang the teepee hat and coat rack on the screws.
