How to Decorate a Round Hallway

Round hallways are rare in most homes, but if your home has this unique style of hallway, it affords you a significant opportunity for decorating. Round halls are most noticeable because of the extra space they provide the home, which gives you the challenge of using this space without making it feel cluttered. Before beginning the decorating process, decide on the theme of the hall. Choose whether it will fit in with the home's general theme or have its own theme.

Instructions

    • 1

Display a large piece of art on the wall of the round hallway if the walls are curved gradually enough to allow the frame to hang correctly. Many round hallways are large and may span two stories, creating an amply sized wall space that can make the area look barren if not addressed correctly. If a large piece of art won't fit reasonably on the wall because of its curve, use several pieces of smaller art.

Set up a sitting area if the round hallway is large enough to allow it. Round hallways offer home residents and guests alike a unique-looking setting. By adding two comfortable chairs, a table, a cozy area rug and a table lamp to the area, you increase the functionality of the space.

Hang a mirror at one end of the hallway to give the illusion that the area is even larger. Mirrors are effective to seemingly increase the space of a room of hall. If the round hallway is large, or even if it's small, a mirror will appear to give it more space and make it feel more open.

Add functional decorations based on the area of your home in which the round hallway is located. If the round hallway begins immediately beyond the front foyer of your home, add a coat rack, an umbrella stand and a table with a guest book. If it's outside a child's room, a small, carpeted play area is suitable.

Mount directional pot lights in the ceiling above the round hallway to make it feel spacious and open. A dark hallway appears small and isn't welcoming. Especially if your hallway doesn't have adequate natural lighting, bright, halogen pot lights will add to the aesthetic of the area.
