Burn a regular pillar candle down two to three inches, making sure not to let the top edges of the candle droop or melt. You want a solid, circular ring at the top.
Trim the wick to its base, and cut out enough wax from the sides of the melted hole to allow an electric tealight to slide in and sit upright in the candle.
Scrape the inside edges of the candle if you want more of the flickering light to show through. This creates a nice glowing effect and helps disguise the fact that it is an electric candle rather than an actual flame.
