How to Hang Art on Stucco

Because stucco is essentially man-made rock, it provides a very strong, stable surface to hang art on. Before hanging artwork on stucco, make sure the wall is real stucco, not imitation or EIFS. EIFS is an acrylic-based product applied over foam that has the appearance of stucco without the strength. Consult an EIFS contractor prior to attempting to hang art on imitation stucco.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine where the art will be hung on the stucco. Make a small mark on the stucco where supports for the art need to be placed.

    • 2

Use the drill and drill bit to make a small hole in the stucco where the supports for the art should go. Clean out the hole to limit the amount of cement dust inside.

    • 3

Insert a small amount of acrylic epoxy into each drilled hole. Push the anchors into the holes and allow the epoxy to set.

    • 4

Use steel screws to hang the art on the stucco wall. Steel screws provide additional support to the art and are more heavy-duty than the screws that generally come with anchors or picture hanging kits.
