How to Hang a Quilt on the Wall Over a Window?

Quilts aren't just for keeping warm on cold winter nights; they also make beautiful wall hangings or window coverings. The stitching on an old or elaborate quilt may be too delicate to leave on top of a bed. Displaying a fragile quilt against a wall or window may be the only way you and your guests will get to see it. A drapery rod and clip rings simplify the hanging process and don't require you to alter the quilt for display.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the width of the quilt. Add 6 inches to the measurement and choose a decorative drapery rod wide enough to accommodate the width of the quilt.

    • 2

Measure and mark a spot for the mounting hardware on each side of the window. Measure 4 inches above the window at a width 2 inches wider than the quilt.

    • 3

Hold the brackets up to the marks and mark each screw hole. Fit an electric drill with a bit one size smaller than the mounting screws. Hammer drywall anchors into the wall gently, until the anchor heads are flush with the wall. Screw the brackets into the anchors.

Insert the rod through the clip rings and secure the rod to the brackets. Clip the top corners to the rings on both ends of the rod. Evenly space and attach the rest of the clips across the top of the quilt.
