How to Make a Miniature Log Bed

A charming miniature log bed could be the perfect addition to a rustic dollhouse. By using twigs, the logs themselves will be reproduced in an authentic manner. This small log bed could be accompanied by a miniature log table and chairs, which are also constructed from twigs. The doll owner could get involved with this miniature log bed construction project by helping to search outdoors in wooded areas for straight twigs of the same diameter.

  • 14 straight twigs with the diameter of a pencil
  • Ruler
  • Garden shears
  • Hot glue gun

Instructions

    • 1

Cut all twigs to a 4-inch length with the garden sheers. Peel the bark from all the twigs with your fingers.

    • 2

Join 10 twigs together by hot gluing the long "log" edges side-by-side to each other to create the flat portion of the bed.

    • 3

Using the hot glue gun, attach the remaining twigs to the flat bed at a right angle to the bed corners, creating legs and bed posts.

    • 4

Measure the size of the bed and cut two pieces of scrap fabric to the measurement for the bed mattress. Sew the wrong sides of the fabric together with the needle and thread 1/4-inch from the edge, leaving 2 inches open. Turn the mattress to the right side, stuff it with polyester fiberfill and sew up the open edge.

    • 5

Place the mattress on the miniature log bed.
