Instructions

  1. Mosaic Table Tops

    • 1

Cut the plywood to the size of the table top with the table saw or circular saw.

    • 2

Drill holes in the plywood just large enough for the bolts to hold it to the metal-mesh table top.

    • 3

Attach the plywood to the metal table frame with the nuts and bolts.

    • 4

Cut the wood trim to the length of each side of the table.

    • 5

Place the trim so that it extends 1/8 inch above the plywood. This will hold the tiles and grout in place. Nail the trim to the edges of the plywood with the finishing nails.

    • 6

Place the tiles on the table in the desired pattern. Once the pattern is established, use the tile adhesive to secure the tile in place. Allow this to dry and cure for the time period allotted by the tile adhesive. This amount of time can vary per brand of adhesive, so be sure to check your package of adhesive for explicit directions as to how to use it. A putty knife may be necessary to spread the adhesive onto the tile.

Grout the tiles when the adhesive has cured. Apply grout to the entire table, working it into the spaces between the tiles. Be sure to use a grout color that complements the tiles, to ensure a professional appearance. Wipe any excess grout off the tiles by wiping them with the towel. Any excess films of grout can be buffed off with a damp towel. Allow this to cure for the given time on the grout package.

Cover the grout with the silicone grout sealer. This will protect the grout from damage and mildew. This will also add a shine to the grout similar to the tiles. Allow the silicone to completely cure. Wash and dry the table to a high shine.
