- 2 pieces of fabric (at least 18" x 9" each)
- 1/2 yard of batting or felt
- Thread
- Sewing machine or needle and thread
- Scissors
- Pins
- Measuring tape
- Rotary cutter and mat (optional)
- Cut two rectangles from the fabric. Each rectangle should measure 18" x 9".
- If desired, use a rotary cutter and mat to cut the fabric. This will give you a more precise cut.
- Place two pieces with the right sides together and pin them along one of the long edges.
- Leave a 1-inch seam allowance.
- Sew along the pinned edge using a 1/2-inch seam allowance.
- Backstitch at the beginning and end of the seam.
- Turn the pillowcase inside out carefully, using a point turner or other blunt object to help push out the corners.
- Press flat.
- Cut a piece of batting to the same size as the pillowcase.
- Insert the batting into the pillowcase, smoothing it out as needed.
- Fold the raw edge of the opening 1/2-inch to the inside and press.
- Pin the opening closed.
- Sew the opening closed using a 1/2-inch seam allowance.
- Backstitch at the beginning and end of the seam.
