Determine the size of the armoire. For a television with a diagonal screen measurement up to 46 inches, the armoire will need to be 52 inches high, 42 inches wide and 26 inches deep. This will provide some drawer storage at the bottom, as well as adequate space to store the television.
Cut the 1/2-inch plywood to size. Cut two sections of plywood to 25 inches wide and 52 inches in length. Cut three more sections to 25 inches wide and 41 inches in length. Cut one section of plywood to 11 inches high and 24 inches long. Cut one large piece of plywood to 52 inches by 42 inches. The final two pieces will be 52 inches by 21 inches.
Assemble the armoire frame. Take two sections of 25-inch-by-41-inch plywood, which will act as the top and bottom of the armoire. Select two 25-inch-by-52-inch sections of plywood for either side of the armoire. Apply wood glue to both 25-inch sides of the top board. Firmly press the outer edge with glue to the top edge of the walls. Repeat this step for the bottom section of plywood.
Nail the outer frame together. You should now have a 52 inches tall by 42 inches wide by 25 inches deep rectangular frame. Once you confirm that the frame is level and contains the correct measurements, use finishing nails to secure the frame. Apply four evenly spaced nails along each top and bottom corner.
Space the dividing supporter for the shelving. On the bottom interior area, measure 20.25 inches from each wall interior. This will leave a 1/2-inch space to place the board. Apply wood glue to the bottom 24-inch side of the 24-inch-by-11-inch board. Firmly press the board into the 1/2-inch space, lining it flush with the back of the stand, and nail from the bottom of the stand into this divider to create a stronger bond.
Insert the television shelf. Apply glue to the top of the divider board in the center. Select the remaining 25-inch-by-41-inch section of wood, and apply wood glue to the outer edges. Gently slide the shelf into place. Ensure the shelf is level, and nail the plywood into place with four evenly spaced nails along each edge, as well as four evenly spaced nails to grip the divider board. You now have the completed frame.
Use the shelf divider placed on the bottom to determine which side will be the front, and apply wood glue on every edge. Line the 42-inch-by-52-inch section of plywood to the outer edges and firmly press the backing in place. Once the back is lined up, nail around the entire perimeter, spacing the nails 4 inches apart. Be sure to place nails into the shelf and the divider as well. The divider will provide additional support for the shelf holding the television, as well as divide the area for storing items. Place the armoire in a standing position.
Attach the hinges to the door. Space the hinges three inches from the top and bottom of each door, and nail into place. Nail the hinges to the outer frame of the armoire. Test the doors by opening and closing them to ensure they properly function without bumping into one another.
