-Two pieces of 36"x 80" (91.5 x 203 cm)
1. Prepare the Fabric:
-Wash the fabric before sewing to ensure that it does not shrink later on.
-Iron the fabric flat to remove any wrinkles.
2. Measure the Pillowcase Pieces:
- Using a measuring tape and marking tool, measure and mark two pieces of fabric each measuring 36"x 80" (91.5 x 203 cm), including a 1-inch (2.5 cm) seam allowance on all sides.
3. Cut the Fabric:
- Cut the marked fabric pieces along the lines using scissors or a rotary cutter and cutting mat.
4. Sew the Center Seam:
- With the right sides together, align the two fabric pieces and pin them along the 36" (91.5 cm) edge, where you intend to make the opening.
- Stitch along the pinned edge using a 1/2-inch (1.3 cm) seam allowance.
- Press the seam open.
5. Sew the Side Seams:
- Fold each pillowcase with the right sides together, aligning the side edges.
- Sew a 1/2-inch (1.3 cm) seam allowance along both sides from the top to the bottom, leaving an opening of about 8-10 inches (20-25 cm) at the bottom for turning the pillowcase right side out.
6. Turn the Pillowcases Right Side Out:
- Carefully turn the pillowcases right side out using the opening.
- Use a point turner or bodkin to help push out the corners.
- Press the pillowcases flat.
7. Hemming the Opening:
- Fold the 8-10 inch opening seam allowances (20-25 cm) onto the inside twice to enclose raw edges and press.
- Top-stitch the hem 1/8-inch (3mm) from the edge to secure it in place.
8. Press and Finish:
- Iron the finished pillowcases until they are crisp.
- Use an iron-on tape or zig-zag stitch to reinforce the corners for added durability.
9. Enjoy your handmade king-sized pillowcases!
