Instructions

    • 1

Take two pieces of 2-inch diameter bamboo for the sides of the wall pot rock. Measure in 3 inches from one end of both bamboo pieces and make a mark.

    • 2

Measure down 15 inches from the first mark and make a second mark, then another 15 inches down make a third mark. There should be 7 inches between the third mark and the end of the bamboo sticks.

    • 3

Wrap a piece of masking tape around the bamboo at each of the marks. This will help prevent cracks and splits while drilling. Attach the hole saw bit to your drill.

    • 4

Drill a hole in the bamboo pieces at each of the points marked, drilling through the masking tape and right through the other side of the bamboo. All the holes should be facing the same direction. Remove the masking tape.

    • 5

Slide the tube wall mount brackets onto the bamboo pieces, two on each stick, leaving them loose for the time being on either side of the middle holes.

    • 6

Insert a 20-inch length of 1-inch-thick bamboo through the top hole of each side stick of the pot rack, adjusting the side sticks so there is roughly 2 inches of the smaller stick extending from each side. Repeat with two more 1-inch-thick sticks, so there are three rungs evenly spaced between the side sticks.

    • 7

Squeeze a small amount of wood glue into the holes in the side sticks and leave the rungs to dry in the glue, ensuring they are even before letting them set for 24 hours.

    • 8

Choose which side will be the back of the pot rack (which faces the wall) and turn this side so that it is facing up.

    • 9

Place a strip of masking tape over each joint where the side pieces connect with the rungs. Drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than a 3/4 inch screw through the back of the side pieces into the rungs. Peel off the masking tape then drive in a screw to secure the rack. The screws will be invisible from the front of the rack.

    • 10

Move the wall mounts so they are roughly 13 inches from either end of the side pieces, and turn them so the wall mount portion is toward the back of the rack. Drill a pilot hole through the screw hole in the tube section of the wall mount and secure it to the bamboo side pieces with 3/4 inch screws.

    • 11

Locate two wall studs in the wall of the kitchen where you want to install the rack, using a stud finder.

    • 12

Hold the rack up to the wall, with the wall mounts over the stud positions. Use a level to ensure the rack is even, then secure the wall mounts to the wall with 2 inch drywall screws driven through each screw point.

    • 13

Hang S-hooks over the rungs of the rack, then hang your pots and pans on the S-hooks.
