How to Hang Kitchen Cabinets in a Mobile Home

## Things You'll Need

- stud finder

- cordless drill with a 1/16-inch drill bit

- 2-inch wood screws

- level

- tape measure

- pencil

- circular saw

- saber saw

- jigsaw; cabinet screws

- cabinet hardware

1. Find the Studs

Use the stud finder to mark the locations of the studs in your wall. Studs are generally spaced 16 inches on center, so you can also measure to find them, but a stud finder won’t steer you wrong.

2. Measure for Brackets

Hold a bracket up to the wall on the left and right sides of your cabinet opening, and mark the hole locations with your pen. Place the bracket aside and use a level to draw a straight line through your two horizontal marks.

3. Secure Brackets

Using a 1/16-inch drill bit, drill pilot holes for your wood screws. This will prevent splitting the wood. Drive the wood screws through the bracket mounting holes and into the studs. Use the level to make sure the brackets are perfectly level.

4. Prepare the Cabinets

Set your cabinets face down on a drop cloth or tarp. Use the tape measure to mark 1-inch mounting holes on the side walls of your cabinets. Then use the 1/16-inch drill bit to drill pilot holes for the screws through the side wall of the cabinet.

5. Install the Cabinets

Hang your cabinets on the brackets. Use a screwdriver to drive cabinet screws through the pilot holes you made in the side walls of the cabinets and into the brackets.

6. Secure the Trim to the Wall

Use the circular saw to cut the backsplash to size. It should be the same width as your cabinet opening. Then, use the saber saw to cut an electrical outlet hole if needed. Use the jigsaw to cut a decorative shape into the bottom edge of the trim if desired. Attach the backsplash to the wall with wood screws.

7. Mount your Door Hinges

Attach your door hinges to the doors and secure them with screws provided with the hinges.

8. Install your Knobs or Pulls

Using the hardware included with your knobs or pulls, attach the hardware to your doors or drawers.

Tips

- Always use a level to make sure your brackets and cabinets are perfectly level.

- Double-check your measurements to ensure that your cabinets will fit in the space allocated.
