How to Protect Dining Chair Seats

Accidental food and beverage spills can leave the fabric seats of your dining room chairs looking dirty and stained. Instead of panicking each time guests arrive for a meal, take steps to protect your dining chair seats beforehand. The right protection will eliminate damage to the fabric and keep your dining room set looking new.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase an upholstery protector spray that is appropriate for the type of fabric that is on your dining chair seats.

    • 2

Take the chairs outdoors or to a well-ventilated area before applying the protector spray to reduce the inhalation of potentially toxic fumes.

    • 3

Spray the upholstery protector on an inconspicuous piece of fabric to ensure that there is no visible damage to the chair seat. Give the fabric a chance to absorb the protector spray for 20 minutes prior to proceeding.

    • 4

Spray the upholstery protector evenly across the fabric chair seats, making sure to cover the area completely. For even better protection, apply a second coat of protector spray.

    • 5

Allow 24 hours for the dining chair seats to dry before using them. In colder or more humid climates, the seats may take slightly longer to dry completely.
