Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States and author of the "Declaration of Independence." was a gifted architect, designer and inventor whose many brainchildren included the concept of the swivel chair. A swivel chair consists of a seating frame attached by a stem into a base, within which the stem can rotate the seating frame, often a full 360 degrees. The swivel chair can be rotated manually by a standing person or by a seated person with his feet on the floor who pushes his legs to propel the chair to the left or right, changing the chair's viewing direction at will.
