How to Make Wedding Chair Covers & Draping

## Materials

* Fabric (enough to cover all of your chairs, plus a little extra for hems)

* Thread

* Sewing machine

* Pins

* Scissors

* Measuring tape

* Iron

* Pleater (optional)

Instructions

1. Measure your chairs. You will need to know the height of the chairs, the width of the seat, and the depth of the seat.

2. Cut out the fabric. Cut out two rectangles of fabric for each chair. The rectangles should be the following size:

* Width: Width of the chair seat + 2 inches

* Height: Height of the chair back + 6 inches

3. Hem the edges of the fabric. Fold the edges of the fabric under 1 inch and iron them. Then, fold them under 1 inch again and iron them again. Stitch the hems in place.

4. Gather the fabric. If desired, you can gather the fabric at the top of the rectangles. To do this, use a pleater or simply pinch the fabric and stitch it in place.

5. Sew the rectangles together. With right sides together, sew the two rectangles together along the sides and bottom. Leave the top open.

6. Turn the chair covers right side out. Carefully turn the chair covers right side out, using a point turner or other blunt object to help you push out the corners.

7. Press the chair covers. Iron the chair covers to remove any wrinkles.

8. Put the chair covers on the chairs. Place the chair covers on the chairs and adjust them so that they fit snugly.

Tips

* If you are using a sheer fabric, you may want to line the chair covers with a solid fabric.

* You can add embellishments to the chair covers, such as lace, ribbon, or buttons.

* If you don't have a sewing machine, you can also make chair covers by hand. Simply sew the hems and sides of the rectangles together by hand.
