How to Cut Pavers With a Saw

Pavers add a colorful dimension to your landscape. Many homeowners use pavers for paths and walkways. When laying pavers, you'll likely have to cut some pavers to fit into the layout. Cutting pavers typically requires one of two machines rented from a local hardware store or supply shop--a guillotine cutter and a masonry saw.

Instructions

  1. Guillotine Cutter

    • 1

Measure and mark the paver needing to be cut, using a tape measure and a marker. Double-check your measurement.

    • 2

Place the paver in the guillotine cutter. Line the mark up with the blade cutting zone.

    • 3

Pull down on the guillotine cutter handle firmly. The blade will cut the paver through sheer force, snapping the brick in two.

    Masonry Saw

    • 4

Measure and mark the paver needing to be cut. Double-check your measurement.

    • 5

Place the paver in the masonry saw. Line the mark up with the blade cutting zone.

    • 6

Pull the trigger on the saw to start the blade. Pull down the handle slowly, cutting the paver. Release the trigger to stop the saw so you can remove the pieces of the paver from the saw.
