How to Make Drills Last Longer

Drills are great tools for driving screws or drilling holes in many different materials. But before you use any tool -- especially a power drill -- make sure to familiarize yourself with the correct operating procedures and wear the necessary protective equipment. Instructions

    • 1

Use the drill only on jobs for which it is designed. Forcing a drill on materials it isn't made for can not only damage the tool, it can also put your safety at risk.

    • 2

Spray the tool, including the ventilation openings and switches, with compressed dry air to keep it clean and operating smoothly.

    • 3

Prolong the battery of your electric drill by rotating two or three different batteries. Use one battery in the drill while another recharges. Prolong battery life by recharging only when power is noticeably low.

    • 4

Charge the battery only in the charger included with the drill and do not store it in the charger. Remove the battery from the charger when it is fully charged.

    • 5

Never use your drill without proper eye protection.
