The Stihl bow bar is an alternative cutting bar that loops the chain in a bow shape instead of the standard straight bar installed on most chainsaws. The bow bar allows the chainsaw operator to cut logs from a standing, upright attack angle instead of needing to bend over the keep a traditional straight bar horizontal to the ground. Additionally, the bow bar is equipped with a metal thumb that jambs against a log while cutting, providing a safe, stable cut.
Instructions
-
-
1
Idle the chainsaw's engine as you approach the log to be cut.
-
2
Pull the trigger to increase the chainsaw's rpm and firmly place the bow bar's metal thumb against the log. The thumb provides a leverage point that provides stability for the duration of the cut.
-
-
3
Allow the saw blade to do the work of slicing through the log, maintaining a light forward pressure on the bar.
-
4
Release the trigger as the blade completes the cut, and withdraw the bow from the log to commence the next cut.
