How to Replace the Enamel Top on a Hoosier Cabinet

Materials Needed

* Enamel paint

* Primer

* Clear coat sealer

* Sandpaper

* Paintbrush

* Roller

Instructions

1. Prepare the enamel top.

Sand the enamel top using medium-grit sandpaper to smooth out any rough spots or imperfections. Wipe off the dust with a tack cloth.

2. Apply primer.

Apply a coat of primer to the enamel top using a paintbrush. Allow the primer to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions.

3. Paint the enamel top.

Use a paintbrush or small roller to paint the enamel top with the enamel paint. Apply even coats, taking care to cover the entire surface. Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next.

4. Apply clear coat sealer.

Once you've finished painting, apply a couple coats of clear coat sealer. Allow the sealer to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Tips:

* Be sure to use a high-quality enamel paint that is specifically designed for use on countertops or other surfaces that will be subjected to wear and tear.

* To prevent brush marks, use a foam roller or a high-quality paintbrush and brush in the same direction.

* Allow each coat of paint to dry completely before applying the next.

* If you have multiple sections to paint, use painter's tape to prevent the paint from bleeding onto other surfaces.
