Most garage building manufacturers will only deliver locally or within their state lines. The packages will include everything needed for the building, but most structures require a concrete foundation of at least the same size as the prospective garage. Fitting and instructions for electricity and plumbing are usually not included in the package and many states will require a building permit in place before construction starts.
Garage building kits include frames, prefabricated interior and exterior walls, doors and windows, floor and deck systems, roof trusses and shingles. Some package types will also contain insulation material, storage cabinets, stairs and even chimneys. The manufacturers usually offer a telephone helpline to follow their custom plans and instructions, and supply all fasteners, nails, screws and bolts needed in the building.
Depending on size, chosen materials and the builder's skills, garage building kits take from two days to two weeks to assemble. In December 2010, small garage packages for one car cost approximately $3,000 while larger packages for multiple cars, or with second floors and extensive storage facilities can cost up to $20,000.
