How to Hang a Chandelier From Sloped Ceiling

## Hanging a Chandelier from a Sloped Ceiling

Hanging a chandelier from a sloped ceiling is a relatively simple project that can be completed in a few hours. By following these steps, you can safely and securely install your chandelier.

Tools and Materials

* Chandelier

* Mounting bracket

* Canopy

* Chain or cable

* Electrical tape

* Wire nuts

* Drill

* Screwdriver

* Hammer

* Level

* Measuring tape

* Safety glasses

* Gloves

Instructions

1. Turn off the power. Before you begin working, make sure that the power is turned off to the room where you will be installing the chandelier. This can be done by flipping the circuit breaker or removing the fuse.

2. Locate the joists. Use a stud finder to locate the joists in the ceiling. Joists are typically spaced 16 inches apart.

3. Mark the location of the mounting bracket. Once you have located the joists, mark the location of the mounting bracket on the ceiling. The mounting bracket should be centered between two joists.

4. Install the mounting bracket. Use a drill to drill pilot holes for the mounting screws. Then, use a screwdriver to drive the screws into the joists.

5. Attach the chain or cable to the mounting bracket. If your chandelier came with a chain, attach the chain to the mounting bracket. If your chandelier came with a cable, thread the cable through the mounting bracket.

6. Adjust the length of the chain or cable. Adjust the length of the chain or cable so that the chandelier will hang at the desired height.

7. Connect the electrical wires. Connect the black wire from the chandelier to the black wire from the ceiling. Connect the white wire from the chandelier to the white wire from the ceiling. Connect the green wire from the chandelier to the grounding wire from the ceiling.

8. Install the canopy. Install the canopy over the mounting bracket. The canopy will hide the electrical connections.

9. Turn on the power. Turn on the power to the room and test the chandelier. The chandelier should light up when you turn on the switch.

Tips

* If you are not comfortable working with electricity, you can hire an electrician to install the chandelier for you.

* Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions when installing the chandelier.
