Pick an area with enough room for the bag to swing without knocking into walls or furniture.
Locate the nearest joist to that area with a stud finder. Mark the center of the stud with a pencil.
Drill a hole into the ceiling joist. Start with a small bit and working up to the size of the eye bolt.
Insert the eye bolt into the hole. Have a partner hold it steady while you slide a washer over the bolt and add a nut. Tighten the nut with a wrench while your partner holds a screwdriver in the eye bolt to keep it from turning.
Attach the chains included with the bag onto the attachment points along the top of the bag. The attachment points are usually four metal D-rings, and they attach to the chains with S-hooks.
Have your partner help lift the bag to attach the chain to the eye bolt. It may be easier to use a table or ladder to gradually lift the bag higher and higher until the chain reaches.
