Insert closet bolts. You may have the kind of bolts that require you to place them into the flange or parallel to the wall behind the toilet.
Place a rug or thick blanket on the floor then turn the toilet onto its side. Allow the wax ring to become room temperature to soften up. Affix a wax ring on the base of the toilet that extends into the flange called the waste horn.
Remove the plug covering the waste drain hole. Turn the toilet right-side up, then place it over the flange. Install the retainer washers and nut with the appropriate side up. Loosely install the washer and nut on the toilet.
Press down on the toilet gently before rocking the bowl back and forth. Press down against the wax ring and flange to secure the bowl in place before tightening the bolts and nuts.
Affix a large rubber gasket over the bottom of the tank’s outlet.
Stand over the toilet or sit on the bowl to slid two tank-mounting bolts through the aligned holes inside the tank. Place two rubber washers against the tank and bowl.
Attach the tank onto the bowl, then use a wrench to securely tighten the nuts in place.
Use a coupling nut to connect the water supply line to the inlet valve. The inlet value is typically located at the bottom left-side of the tank. You can turn on the water to make sure the tank fills up.
Secure any of the bolts holding down the bowl until they're tight. Place trim caps over the bolts. You can use plumber putty or sealant to fill the recesses of the trim caps.
Connect the toilet seat to the bowl and cover the tank with its cover.
