What Is Flat Siding?

Siding is made from one of many weatherproof materials and is used on the frame of buildings. Individual pieces are attached to the building. Flat siding has both practical and aesthetic value.
  1. Components

    • Flat siding is made from 24-oz. copper. Each panel is approximately ¼ inch deep.

    Purpose

    • Flat siding is designed to provide tight links between panels. Flat siding can increase the value of your home, particularly if it's aesthetically pleasing. Siding can also provide insulation, decreasing the cost of both heat and air conditioning.

    Appearance

    • Flat siding gives the wall a flat appearance. Minimal shadows are cast from flat siding.

    Installation

    • Flat siding panels should be installed from the top downwards. Fasten the bottom of the flat siding panels via slotted holes. The screws shouldn't be completely tightened; there should be enough room for the siding to expand and contract as needed.
